Scuba Diving Computer – I own a Suunto Cobra dive computer and really like the brand and model. Its easy to use, reliable and trusted.
I dive most weekends up to 20 metres on standard air although I will be going deeper and using Nitrox shortly and the Cobra can cover this also.

My fiance has taken up diving and really enjoys it – I think it’ll be a life-long hobby (yeah!). She does’nt have a dive computer yet (decompression tables need to be used and known inside and out first!).

I would be happy with her getting any Suunto BUT I know algorithms vary by manufacturer and/or model?
SO………If the algorithms vary then presumably the decompression stops etc shown will vary on 2 different computers on the same dive. I know the manufacturers err on the side of caution but if I were to buy another Suunto for her we would be relying on a single algorithm.

I guess my questions are…
1. Is it *entirely* safe to rely on 1 brand (along with dive tables of course)?

2. Do the decompression stop depth and times etc vary very much between manufacturers?

Scuba Diving Computer – A friend of mine filmed me while scuba diving, and the he burned the movie on a dvd. Now i would like to burn this “movie” into one of my folders in order to edit it. But I don’t know how.

How do you copy a movie from a cd to your files?Using what program?

any help is appreciated
copy pasting doesnt work… when i try to open it later , it comes as some other type of file other than a movie file…

Scuba Diving Computers – I would like to know if i need to go through the extra expense of buying a second one for my wife. They are very expensive. Surely using the dive tables and a single computer is ok? Or is this not recommended? Or is it a definite no-no?

Scuba Diving Computer – I’m not that tech savvy and I work from home using Remote Desktop. Will that work on a Mac? Is office for Mac any good? Will I be able to transfer all my photos and the songs in itunes? Will my other software still work (Garmin GPS, Scuba diving computer software, MS Flight Simulator)? Is it worth it?

Scuba Diving Computer – I’m a new diver and looking to purchase my own gear. I know how everyone has different things to look for, but seriously need to hear a couple of brand names or models.

I am completely landlocked working for six months at a time in the oilfield in the Canadian north, so local dive shops don’t exist for me. I will be in Toronto for 24hrs this winter on my way down to Cozumel and would like to buy some gear. I plan on doing recreational open water diving down to 130 feet max, and possibly trying some basic, beginner caves. About 50% of my diving will be done in fresh water lakes all well above freezing temperatures.

I have tried Scubapro Twin Jet Max fins, and Atomic Aquatics Smoke on the water and find they are both very comfortable. I would get the Atomics because they feel a tiny bit better, but am told that all split fins stink in a current. (Cozumel). Any advice?

Masks, snorkels, wetsuit, boots and computer I am comfortable choosing myself.

I see an overwhelming amount of people on scuba forums say that they have switched to the backplate/wing style BC after a little experience and have decided just to start with it. I am considering the Scubapro Knighthawk, what do you think?

What would be one of the best regs/octos for recreational diving? Am looking at the Atomic Aquatics and Scubapro pages. I’m not concerned about cost, but don’t want something I don’t need. Just looking for the best gear that a purely recreational diver could use, and possibly do an easy beginner’s cave dive in.

How about good high quality gauges?

There is enough cut and dry data in Scubalab to pick the correct computer for myself. Reg/octo, gauges and fins are my biggest concerns.

BTW: I am not going to buy my gear online, will support my ‘local’ dive shop 1500km away in Toronto, my home away from home, but have found talking to them that they only advise me to buy whatever brands the happen to stock. Just want some straight talk from some experienced dive folk.

Scuba Diving Computer – I need to know where to get the BEST POSSIBLE prices beause I got my certification recently (I’m 16) and want to carry on diving for studies and leisure. I could buy it in pieces, but want to know where to get the BEST deal. After all, I’m only 16 and can only afford so much at certain times. I know I have enough for all of it put together, but just want to find out where to get it at good quality for as low price as possible. But it has to be good quality. Thanks

Scuba Diving Computer – I have tried many different regulators and my favorite of all time is the Dacor Extreme Plus Regulator but I have trouble finding parts to maintain it. I even have the original dive computers on 3 of the 4 Dacor Extreme Plus Regs as back ups since I use different dive computers on each of them.

Scuba Diving Computer – I’m doing this big project and i need ideas for it. I’m supposed to pic a topic that interests me but i cant find one.  I’m supposed to have an interview with a person who knows stuff about my topic and can help me get information! On the paper there are some ideas but their pretty lame like time travel, television journalism, the Lockness monster, careers with computers, scuba diving, teenage mothers, UFO’s, eating disorders and a couple more but none of those really interest me and i need a topic by tomorrow! Please help!
