Used Scuba Diving Equipment – I saw a diver today at a cove with a tank that was half size. He said he uses it for the shallow reef dives. It look REALLY comfortable. Are these sufficient to do 30 ft dives? I **** all the equipment… I only do easy dives here (SoCal).. Would this be a good option for me?

50 cu. ft. is ok, but if you’re in SoCal, I’d invest in at least an HP80 tank. The old PST E7-80s or the new Worthington X7-80s are close to the size of a low pressure 50 cu. ft tank. See the tank comparison chart in “sources”.

50 cu. ft. won’t get you much bottom time, even at 30′. To figure out how much time you’ll have, you need to perform a simple Surface Air Consumption calculation. See link in the “sources”
