I’d buy it in the UK – at least you can be sure that you will get everything you need, and won’t have any problems with guarantees.

Try before you buy. It’s best to do your shopping at home, it’ll be cheaper than a tourist destination and there won’t be any unexpected surprises in your gear as you’ll have tried it out before the trip. I know that’ll mean lugging that gear around on arrival at Bonnaire, but you’ll have to do some lugging anyway on return. You’ll have better after purchase support for that gear as well.
