Scuba Diving Computer – I’m not that tech savvy and I work from home using Remote Desktop. Will that work on a Mac? Is office for Mac any good? Will I be able to transfer all my photos and the songs in itunes? Will my other software still work (Garmin GPS, Scuba diving computer software, MS Flight Simulator)? Is it worth it?

I think that there must be a option to access your PC by Remote Desktop.

Apple has it’s own version of Remote Desktop. It depends what you are trying to control. The Office version for Macs is great, it works fine, it’s a bit costly as most Microsoft programs, and is fully compatible with the Windows version. You will be able to transfer all your photos and songs. If you take your PC to an Apple store, they’ll transfer all your files for you for free to a new Mac while you wait. As to the other software, Garmin should have a Mac version, I know Tomtom does. The others, well if there is no Mac version you could always run Windows also on a Mac. 98% of the software out there either works on a Mac or there is a Mac version or similar software available.
As to whether or not a Mac is worth it, check out the business section of today’s USA Today. Apple made record profits, Microsoft is laying a couple thousand people off. Add to that there are no released MacOs X viruses, and you get to spend your time working not defragging, removing viruses, etc.

For the most compatibility, I’d suggest Windows. If you want something better, use Linux.
No reason to pay the inflated OSX tax.
