Used Scuba Diving Equipment – Is Full Face Mask Diving Different?

What are your thoughts on the subject?
Used Scuba Diving Equipment - In a couple months I will be taking scuba diving lessons. In preparation I have been shopping around for equipment prices and came across full face diving mask. I’m not buying a full face mask but I was wondering if you have to take a different class in order to use one. Just wondering, if I get really into scuba diving its something I might consider way down the road.

There are no special classes for the full face mask that I know of. I have considered getting a full face mask since I dive in cold water a lot. If my wife and I ever pony up for a communicaiton system, then we’ll need the full face mask.
For warm water vacation diving, I wouldn’t want to use the full face mask.

Actually, depending on the model, there may be a course. I took one from the local Exo rep. I’m not sure if that’s normal for them to do that or not. It may have been simply out of professional courtesy. In any event, if you’re offered one, take it.
As for purchasing one, I wouldn’t say it’s a required piece of gear unless you need comms or doing Hazmat.
